Housing Initiatives of Princeton recently organized as an independent non-profit organization, a Charitable Trust
As we begin this new year, the Boards of Housing Initiatives of Princeton (HIP) and Princeton Outreach Projects, Inc. (POPI), are pleased to announce HIP’s transition from a member program of POPI’s family of programs to a separate non-profit entity. Founded in 2001 under the auspices of POPI (a non-profit organization begun in 1992 by Trinity Episcopal and Nassau Presbyterian Churches), HIP has received support from it through the years.
HIP is now organized as an independent non-profit organization, a Charitable Trust. HIP has attained its own Employer Identification Number (EIN) and is applying to the IRS for permanent 501 (c) (3) designation.
Even though HIP will have two additional words in its name (“Charitable Trust”), the mission of HIP has not changed; HIP remains committed to providing longer-term transitional housing and professional supportive services to low-income working individuals and families in the Princeton area who are facing homelessness and need assistance in order to transition to permanent affordable housing.
This change of status is a wonderful milestone and a testament to HIP’s growth, maturity and governance during the past ten years. It could not have happened without the support of POPI, your belief in our mission and your generous contributions.
Going forward, we ask for your continued generosity, including financial, in-kind, goods and services, and volunteerism, all to enable HIP to assist individuals in our community to rebound after life-altering setbacks. We remain immensely grateful for your support in the past and hope you will continue to support HIP’s work in the future.
